Where are you based?
We work across the UK rather than out of one shopfront, and we would rather say that plainly than claim a high street we do not have. When you enquire we will tell you exactly where the crew would travel from, so you can judge it for yourself.
This is our first proper move. What actually happens?
A lot of people ask this and there is nothing embarrassing about it. In short: we look at the job first, usually on a video call; we send you a written figure with what it covers; on the day we protect both properties before carrying anything; and we do not leave until the beds are back up. Anything you are unsure about, ask — we would rather explain it twice than have you worrying about it.
How is the quote worked out?
Volume, distance and access. How much is going, how far it is travelling, and what the load-in and load-out involve — stairs, lifts, parking, how far the carry is. There is no price on this website because yours would be different from any figure we could print.
Do we have to pack everything ourselves?
Not at all, and you can choose how much you take on. Some people want the whole house packed; others do their own boxes and just want help with the kitchen, the glass and the pictures. Whatever you decide, tell us and we will quote it that way rather than assuming.
Which countries do you move to?
France, Spain, Italy and Portugal. That is the real list rather than a sample of it — we will not claim Australia or the Gulf to catch a search. If your move is somewhere else we will tell you and point you at a firm that genuinely does it.
Can you work around children or someone who is unwell?
Yes, and it is worth telling us in advance rather than on the morning. Moves can be planned around a nap, a school run, a hospital appointment or somebody who needs the house quiet for part of the day. It changes the order we work in, not whether we can do it.
What if we are not ready when you arrive?
It happens, and nobody needs a lecture about it on an already stressful morning. Tell us beforehand if you think you will be behind and we will bring materials and extra hands. Even on the day, we would rather help you finish than stand around looking pointed.
Will the same crew do the whole move?
On a local move, yes, almost always — the people who load are the people who unload. On a long-distance run the driving hours sometimes mean a changeover, and on a European move the load transfers to a line-haul vehicle. We tell you which applies when we quote rather than afterwards.
Can you store things between two dates?
Yes. Chains slip and completion dates move, and containerised storage bridges the gap — goods inventoried in and inventoried out. Ask early so we can hold the space rather than hunt for it.
Do you dismantle and rebuild furniture?
Standard beds, wardrobes and table legs, yes — and the fixings stay taped to the piece they came off rather than going into one bag nobody can sort at ten at night. Older or unusual furniture we look at first; some of it travels better whole and wrapped.
What about things that matter more than they are worth?
Tell us which they are. Every house has a few — a piece of furniture from a grandparent, a picture, something breakable that could not be replaced at any price. We would rather wrap those ourselves and carry them last than discover afterwards that one of them mattered.
Are our things insured?
Goods in transit and liability cover are in place, with the limits and the claims process set out in the booking contract. Declare anything of exceptional value when you enquire so it is properly listed rather than assumed under a general limit.
Do you move pianos?
Uprights, with the right equipment and enough people. Grands, and anything that has to come down an external staircase or out through a window, we look at first and will tell you honestly if it wants a piano specialist instead. We would rather lose the booking than damage an instrument.
What will you not carry?
Fuel, gas bottles, aerosols, paint, solvents and anything flammable. We do not handle asbestos — that needs a licensed contractor. Cash, jewellery, deeds and passports should travel with you rather than on the vehicle. Moves into the EU carry extra restrictions on certain foods and plants, and we send the list before you pack.
How far ahead should we book?
Sooner than most people do. Month-ends and summer are the busiest across the whole trade, and European moves need more lead time again because of scheduling at the far end. If your date is fixed, get in touch well ahead of it.
Can you give us a price over the phone?
We can tell you the shape of the job, but not a figure we would stand behind, and we would rather be straight about that. Quotes guessed on a phone call are the ones that change on moving day, which is exactly the surprise nobody needs.
